Rumson PTO Committees

Do you have some spare time?  If so, the PTO needs you!!  Our committees need volunteers for the school year.  Take a look and find one (or more) that interests you.  You can choose to give an hour, a week or a month.  There is something here for everyone. 

 

To volunteer, you must either sign in to your account or create a new account and pay your annual PTO membership fee on the website (fee of $35).  Click the volunteer tab and sign up for what interests you.  An email will be sent to the Chairperson and you will be contacted when your committee begins planning.  Getting involved is a great way to be part of your child's educational experience.  Thanks for helping us make this another great year for the kids!!

8th Grade Committee
Chair:   Tricia Zifchak - Katie Thompson
Description:  

This role will allow you to be the Chair for the 8th Greade events. Including, Car Wash, Halloween Dance, 8th grade dance, Febrary FD/Holy Cross Basketball Game set-up, Pancake Breakfast, Washington Trip (work along side school officials), etc.... 

CHAIR REQUIREMENTS: Must be an 8th grade parent.

 
ASSEMBLIES
Chair:   Emily Cotton - Molly Jennings
Description:  

This job opens the opportunity for you to host Assemblies for both DP & FD during the school year, with outsourced companies that we have back yearly and offer the chance to bring in some new ones. It's a fantastic way to see the smiling faces of our kids and give them the memories they can hold onto forever....

 
Forrestdale - Holy Cross Basketball Game

Description:  

The BIGGEST game of the year! Come join us as the 2022 Forrestdale State Champions Basketball Team play against the Holy Cross Basketball team on the RFH Court! It's a night of BULLDOG PRIDE and fun for the whole family!

This is a Fundraising event for th 8th Grade Class!

 
Teacher Appreciation Week Coordinators

Description:  

Here you will work with the PTO to help give the teachers and Staff a wonderful week of expereinces, meals and gifts from funds collected through our classes and some help from the PTO. Our teachers are so worth the effort!!

 
BINGO NIGHT

Book Fair

Description:  

Our Annual Scholastic Book Fair is one of our largest fundraisers of the year and requires many volunteers to help staff and run it.  There is a large range of tasks and all are listed below.  It is a favorite of both the children and parents and offers volunteers a chance to become involved early in the school year.

 
Bulldog Merchandise (All Year)

CLASS PARENT COMMITTEE

Interested in becoming a Class Parent for your students class? Please let our chairs know. Nominees must be a PAID member of the PTO.

 
Coupon Books (Sept/October)

Description:  

This fundraiser is an easy way to help.  Kidstuff Coupon Books are sent out to students in K-5 at the end of September.  For $25 parents can buy the book and save hundreds of dollars over the course of the year with coupons to their favorite stores/events.  This committee organizes the distribution of the books and the collection of the money.  This fundraiser takes only a couple of weeks to complete and doesn't require a lot of time each day.

Dawg Dash

Description:  

This event offers a great opportunity for the community to get involved. The Dawg Dash is a yearly running event through-out the town on a selected course for students, parents and helps support local businesses to join in. 

 
Deane-Porter Art Show

Description:  

This committee organizes and hangs all of the artwork for our Annual Deane-Porter Art Show in May.  Many volunteers are needed in short shifts to hang hundreds of pieces of artwork throughout the school.  This is a favorite time for the kids to show off their creativity to mom and dad so come volunteer to make it look terrific!

 
Deane-Porter Field Day

Description:  

Field Day takes place during a school day at the end of the year.  It is a day of games, races, contests and all kinds of fun activites for kids outside on our fields.  This event requires many, many volunteers.  Tasks include, set up and clean up, staffing games, organizing refreshments and coordinating the schedule.  This is a great volunteer day for Dads and an awesome way to celebrate the end of the school year!!

Evening of Fine Art - Forrestdale

Description:

Forrestdale Follies - RUMSON'S GOT TALENT !!

Description:  

No Broadway experience necessary!  This is our Annual Forrestdale Variety Show.  Grades 4-8 perform songs, skits and dances on stage in the Forrestdale Gym.  Many volunteers are needed to hold auditions, organize the performances, sell tickets, supervise backstage and coordinate the event.  This is a fun and exciting night for the kids so come volunteer to showcase our future stars!!

 
HALLOWEEN- REC TABLE AND TREAT

Description:  

Sign up for a fun family night in Participation with Rumson Rec for Family Movie Night. Families can have a "TABLE AND TREAT" decorated table to give out candy or goodies to the local kids.  Prize awarded to the best table!  

8th Grade Commnity Service Opportunity

 
HOSPITALITY

Description:  

Hospitality Chairs are in charge of helping the PTO with offering food services at some very important school events. They are required to set up/clean up and be able to follow a budget. Some events include: Teacher's Breakfast, Orientations and work alongside event chairs for any hospitality needs.  Interested in this roll? Please email the PTO

 
Lunch with a Loved One
Chair:   Stacy Austin
Description:  

Every February around Valentine's Day, the PTO sponsors a special event where Deane-Porter students are encouraged to have a "Loved One" of their choice come to school to have lunch with them.  It can be Mom, Dad, Grandma or Grandpa or any other special person.  Volunteers are needed to help decorate the Deane-Porter cafeteria and gym, bake treats, and serve goodies to the children and their guests on this special day.

Parents Night Out

Description:  

Parents Night Out....the biggest fundraiser of the year. It is a fantastic night out for parents at a local venue, with an auction, music and delicious food and drinks! Should you have a space that you would like us to look into, please email a member of the Board. Donated auction items are a fantastic way to get involved. We are looking for concert/sport tickets, experiences, golf outings, vacation homes, new designer items, store gift cards, etc... No item is too small for this amazing night. 

 
PTO SHOPPING EVENTS

Description:  

The PTO Shopping Event Coordinator will help the PTO coordinate "special discounts" with our local businesses and outside vendors for our Rumson School Families. These may include, but are not limited to clothing stores, health and fitness facilities, restaurants, home stores, etc...  The events can run for 1 day, a weekend or a certian time frame, depending on the vendor.  It's a great opportunity to allow our families to give back to our schools while helping to support a business..

Tennis Event

Help plan this year's Annual Tennis event. It's a great way to raise money for the school, get some exercise and spend time with friends. 

 
Veteran's Day

Description:  

Join us as we honor and celebrate our men and women in uniform!!  The PTO sponsors Veteran's Day assemblies and speakers and hangs hundreds of posters, essays and pictures around the schools.  The kids learn valuable lessons in history and are reminded of the great gift of our country.  Volunteers are needed to arrange program details and hang artwork and posters in the hallways.  If any of you have family members willing to speak/present to the children, please email our Chair. And we would greatly appreciate any stories, items, pictures that we can display in the lobbies.

VISUAL PERFORMING ARTS EVENT

Description:  

Some of the favorite Assemblies are born here!  This role enables 2 shows during the year that both DP and FD students are able to be hands on with.  A famous event as an example is the BMX show...

VISUAL SCHOOL BOARD FOR DP & FD

Description:  

Have that creative touch? Display your creativity at both DP & FD for all to see. Chair will create inspiring boards in the hallways and lobby's of our schools. Supplies will be given from the PTO, all you need to do is be creative.
