Do you have some spare time? If so, the PTO needs you!! Our committees need volunteers for the school year. Take a look and find one (or more) that interests you You can choose to give an hour, a week or a month. There is something here for everyone. To volunteer, create/sign in to your account on the website. Click the volunteer tab and sign up for what you'd like. An email will be sent to the Chairperson and you will be contacted when your committee begins planning. Getting involved is a great way to be part of your child's educational experience and meet the people who touch their lives every day. | Advertising and Public Relations | ||

| Description: | Use your creativity and people skills and help the PTO get out its message!! This important committee is responsible for advertising our events within the school community as well as the larger Rumson community. They will also submit news and important dates to our local media sources. Volunteers are needed to create/distribute flyers, banners and other promotional materials as well as create and maintain local media relationships. |

| Book Fair (October 14-21) | ||

| Description: | Our Annual Scholastic Book Fair occurs in the Fall each year in the Deane-Porter Gym. This is one of our largest fundraisers of the year and requires many volunteers to help staff and run it. There is a large range of tasks and all are listed below. It is a favorite of both the children and parents and offers volunteers a chance to become involved early in the school year. |

| Box Tops for Education (All Year) | ||

| Description: | This committee runs the Box Tops fundraiser throughout the year. In the past, we have set up fun contests between the classrooms to see who can collect the most. At the end of the year, we submit our collection and PTO gets a check!! Volunteers are needed to track Box Tops in the classrooms. |

| Bulldog Boutique | ||

| Description: | Start your Holiday shopping early!! This is a fun and festive day for the whole family. So many of you offered great ideas on how to make this event better than ever. We listened and we hope you'll like the changes this year. Of course, we will have our annual Wreath Sale and a full display of Holiday gifts and treats for everyone! We will have everything from jewelry to kids gadgets to something for Dad. Volunteers are needed to solicit vendors from an existing list, create the vendor table plan and organize volunteers for the wreath sale. Tables are staffed by the vendors themselves. This job is perfect for those with small amounts of unpredictable time. Solicitation happens mostly by email/phone. Volunteers must attend event on November 6th. |

| Bulldog Merchandise (All Year) | ||

| Description: | Test your skills in retailing!! We need volunteers to attend events and sell sweatshirts, t-shirts, and other purple Dawg clothes and merchandise. This year, we will be adding a Bulldog store at Forrestdale and we will need staff to work it. Watch for details soon!!!! |

| Coupon Books (November) | ||

| Description: | This fundraiser is an easy way to help. Coupon Books are sent out to students in K-5. For $25 parents can buy the book and save hundreds of dollars over the course of the year with coupons to their favorite stores/events. This committee organizes the distribution of the books and the collection of the money. This fundraiser takes only a couple of weeks to complete and doesn't require a lot of time each day. |

| Deane-Porter Art Show (May 14) | ||

| Description: | This committee organizes and hangs all of the artwork for our Annual Deane-Porter Art Show in May. Many volunteers are needed in short shifts to hang hundreds of pieces of artwork throughout the school. This is a favorite time for the kids to show off their creativity to mom and dad so come volunteer to make it look terrific! |

| Deane-Porter Field Day (May 24) | ||

| Description: | Field Day takes place during a school day at the end of the year. It is a day of games, races, contests and all kinds of fun activites for kids outside on our fields. This event requires many, many volunteers. Tasks include, set up and clean up, staffing games, organizing refreshments and coordinating the schedule. This is a great volunteer day for Dads and an awesome way to celebrate the end of the school year!! |

| Directory (September 1 - October 15) | ||

| Description: | This committee designs and produces the Annual Student Directory. Volunteers are needed to collect and collate the information, proofread the drafts and deliver the final copies. This is an easy way to volunteer for the PTO. You can volunteer for a couple of days at the beginning of the year. The committee's work is done by October 15. |

| Family Fun Night (June 1) | ||

| Description: | This is our first annual Family Fun Night!! Come and join us for an evening of family fun including face painters, dunk tank, arts and crafts, concessions and an outdoor movie on a 27' outdoor screen. There is something here for everyone. Bring your family and a blanket and enjoy a fun night followed by a movie under the stars!! This is guaranteed to be a new favorite tradition!! Volunteers are needed to staff the activity stations, sell concessions, set up and clean up. |

| Forrestdale Evening of Fine Arts (May 22) | ||

| Description: | This is the Annual Forrestdale Art Show and Spring Concert. This committee organizes and hangs all of the artwork for the Evening of Fine Arts. | Forrestdale Field Day (May 17) | ||

| Forrestdale Follies (April 12) | ||

| Description: | No Broadway experience necessary! This is our Annual Forrestdale Variety Show. Grades 4-8 perform songs, skits and dances on stage in the Forrestdale Gym. Many volunteers are needed to hold auditions, organize the performances, sell tickets, supervise backstage and coordinate the event. This is a fun and exciting night for the kids so come volunteer to showcase our future stars!! |

| Forrestdale Learning Garden (All Year) | ||

| Description: | For all you green thumbs out there....this new committee will plan, install and maintain our Learning Garden every year in the Forrestdale courtyard. Students will have curriculum based lessons in the garden. They will plant, harvest and sell the produce to local vendors and learn important lessons about growing, composting and self sustainability. Volunteers are needed to plant and maintain the garden. |

| Friends of Different Learners | ||

| Description: | FDL is an organization of parents and community members sharing information to facilitate the exchange of ideas, programs, and services for different learners. Working under the umbrella of our PTO, Rumson “Friends of Different Learners” was formed, joining similar groups already in Fair Haven, Little Silver and Oceanport. We formed this group with the intention of providing parents and staff with information to benefit the families and school experiences of children with special needs. FDL also invites teachers, administrators, and members of the community to participate in our chapter and benefit from the resources and programs we hope to provide. Volunteers are needed to continue to help develop and grow our group. |

| Description: | This committee organizes all the bake sales and snacks at our events. They also plan the teacher breakfasts, Kindergarten breakfasts and welcome lunches throughout the year. Volunteers are needed to plan menus, deliver the food or simply bake the treats!! |

| Junior Committee (All Year) | ||

| Description: | This committee will organize and train our 8th grade volunteers at PTO events. 8th graders have community service requirements and the PTO is happy to help fill those hours by giving our 8th graders hands on experience in leading, planning and organizing various aspects of our events. 8th graders will get invaluable experience and the PTO will have well trained staff to help us out. Volunteers are needed to recruit, train oversee and organize the 8th graders' volunteer schedules. |

| Ladies Night Out (March 22) | ||

| Description: | Every March, the PTO hosts Ladies Night Out....our biggest fundraiser of the year. Don't miss out on this fun night of food, entertainment, raffles, auctions and just plain fun with the girls!! Auction items range from manicures to vacation properties to grade baskets that are larger than life!! It takes many, many volunteers to make it happen. Give an hour, a week or a month....there is something here for everyone. |

| Lunch with a Loved One (February 21) | ||

| Description: | Every February around Valentine's Day, the PTO sponsors a special event where Deane-Porter students are encouraged to have a "Loved One" of their choice come to school to have lunch with them. It can be Mom, Dad, Grandma or Grandpa or any other special person. Volunteers are needed to help decorate the Deane-Porter cafeteria and gym, bake treats, and serve goodies to the children and their guests on this special day. |

| New Family Liason Committee (All Year) | ||

| Description: | This new committee will be the "Welcome Wagon" for new families entering the district. They will host various events throughout the year for both new parents and children. With events ranging from breakfasts, ice cream socials and cocktail parties, our goal is to make every new family feel welcomed by our Rumson and PTO communities. This committee will provide welcome packets as well as arrange "buddy" families for our new families to help them get familiar with our schools, programs and events. Volunteers are needed to create and distribute the packets, recruit buddy families and organize the welcome events. |

| Rumson Day/Wizards (April 19) | ||

| Description: | This committee plans and organizes a super day of fun for the entire family. This year we will host the Harlem Wizards for the third year in a row!! Come show your Bulldog pride and make great memories!! Volunteers are needed to help with ticket sales and distribution and organization on the day of the event. |

| Rumson-Fair Haven Community Liaison Committee | ||

| Description: | This brand new committee will work with the Parent Teacher groups of Fair Haven, Holy Cross and Rumson Country Day School to bring in community wide programs that will benefit the character development and education of all Rumson-Fair Haven children. Volunteers are needed to research available programs and organize the actual events. |

| Teacher Appreciation Week (May 7-11) | ||

| Description: | This is a week long celebration in May to celebrate the wonderful job our teachers do every day. The PTO provides breakfast and goodies for the teachers that week and also gives them giftcards to help them purchase school supplies needed for their classrooms. Volunteers are needed to arrange the food and purchase and distribute the giftcards. This is a great committee to serve on to show your child's teacher how much you appreciate them. |

| Veteran's Day (November 11) | ||

| Description: | Join us as we honor and celebrate our men and women in uniform!! The PTO sponsors Veteran's Day assemblies and speakers and hangs hundreds of posters, essays and pictures around the schools. The kids learn valuable lessons in history and are reminded of the great gift of our country. Volunteers are needed to arrange program details and hang artwork and posters in the hallways. | Description: | We are so excited to announce the first year of our new website www.rumsonschoolpto.com. This brand new website will enable you to join the PTO online, purchase event tickets, volunteer for committee work and just stay involved with what's happening at Deane-Porter and Forrestdale. Volunteers are needed to gather information for the website and enter it in. There is no technology experience required. This is a straight data entry job perfect for moms with small children at home. In just an hour a week, you can help us keep the PTO running smoothly. |
